A thin layer of aluminium foil for reflecting infrared radiation and therefore reflecting radiant heat away from the wearer. It also prevents the adhesion of splashes of molten metal, which roll down the garments and fall onto the ground.
A support fabric for the aluminium foil. The composition and texture of this layer have a signifcant impact on the performance of the garment, in terms of insulating properties, splash resistance, comfort, etc.,
An inside lining, in most cases, which provides double thermal insulation with an air cushion created with the aluminised fabric.
